Astrology and horoscope apps
Many people enjoy horoscopes for fun, and daily horoscopes have long been free in newspapers and on websites. Some astrology apps, though, charge weekly for readings, sell paid chats with 'advisors' by the minute, or offer a free personalized chart that ends in a subscription screen. There is no true free substitute for a paid app's content, but there are low-cost ways to enjoy it and easy ways to cancel.
Common problems to watch for
- A long quiz about your birth details that ends with a paywall to see results
- A free trial that turns into a weekly charge if you forget to cancel
- Pay-per-minute chats with 'advisors' that add up fast
- Urgent messages about love, money or bad luck that push you to buy a reading
- Daily notifications designed to keep you coming back and upgrading
Had one of these happen? Telling others what you were charged helps them avoid it.

What fair pricing looks like
Horoscopes are entertainment, and general daily horoscopes are widely free. If you pay, a clear one-time or monthly price you can easily cancel is more reasonable than weekly billing or per-minute charges.
Before you pay
- Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend on this each month.
- Check whether billing is weekly, monthly or per minute.
- Read the cancellation steps before you start a trial.
- Be wary of any message saying something bad will happen unless you pay.
- Check whether your birth details and other data are shared with others.
How to cancel
- On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, pick the app and tap Cancel Subscription.
- On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile icon, choose Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and cancel there.
- Deleting or uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. You must cancel in the store settings.
- Remove any saved card inside the app if you bought advisor minutes, so new charges cannot start by accident.

Common questions
Is there a free alternative to paid astrology apps?
There is no official free version of most paid astrology apps. But general daily horoscopes are widely available for free in newspapers, magazines and on many websites, and your public library may offer free access to many publications. If you read horoscopes casually, these free sources may be all you need.
An advisor in the app says I must pay to avoid bad luck. Is that real?
Be very careful. Messages that create fear about your health, love life or money to make you pay are a common pressure tactic. Horoscopes are entertainment and cannot predict or prevent bad events. Do not send extra money, gift cards or personal details because of a warning like this.
Why was I charged after a free reading?
Many apps start a free trial when you unlock a 'free' reading. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it becomes a paid plan, often weekly. Check your App Store or Google Play subscriptions to see the plan and cancel it. Deleting the app does not stop the charges.
